Dr. Ashish Anand believes that good surgical care begins with understanding the patient, the disease, previous treatments and the available alternatives. Only then can the right operation and the right surgical approach be chosen.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if I need surgery?

Not every surgical problem needs an operation. The decision depends on your diagnosis, symptoms, severity, previous treatment and available alternatives. Dr. Ashish Anand evaluates these factors and explains whether surgery, observation or other treatment is appropriate.
Not always. Laparoscopic surgery can mean smaller incisions and faster recovery for many procedures, but open surgery remains important for certain complex or emergency conditions. The goal is to choose the safest and most effective approach for you.
Dr. Anand evaluates and treats conditions including hernias, gallbladder disease and gallstones, appendicitis, gastrointestinal and bowel conditions, colorectal problems, piles, fissure, fistula and pilonidal sinus.\n\nHe also performs selected minor and day-care surgical procedures, including treatment of lipomas, sebaceous and epidermoid cysts, skin tags, benign skin lesions, scars and earlobe tears.
Yes. A second opinion can help you understand whether surgery is necessary, what alternatives are available, how urgent it is, which approach may be suitable and what recovery to expect. You should feel informed before deciding.
Yes. International patients can seek consultation for selected procedures, particularly hernia and bariatric surgery. Where appropriate, medical records and reports can be reviewed before travel to help organise the in-person consultation and treatment plan.
Yes. Dr. Anand provides surgical evaluation for urgent and emergency abdominal conditions. Depending on the diagnosis and clinical situation, treatment may involve laparoscopic surgery, open surgery or another approach.
No. The right approach depends on your condition, its complexity, previous surgeries, anatomy and overall health. Laparoscopic surgery works well for many procedures, while open surgery may be safer in certain cases.
Both are minimally invasive techniques. In laparoscopy, the surgeon directly controls specialised instruments while viewing the procedure on a monitor. In robotic surgery, the surgeon controls articulated instruments from a console. Robotic surgery can be useful for selected complex procedures, but isn’t needed for everyone.
Yes. Dr. Anand has specialised training in robotic surgery, including colorectal and gastrointestinal procedures. Robotic surgery is considered when its potential benefits are relevant to the specific operation and patient.
Yes. Bring their previous reports, scans, blood tests and treatment records for evaluation. The consultation can help clarify the diagnosis, whether surgery is needed and which approach may be appropriate.
Preparation depends on the procedure. You may need blood tests, imaging, an anaesthesia assessment and specific instructions about food, fluids or regular medicines. You’ll receive procedure-specific instructions before surgery.
